The WebCAPE tests (Computer Adaptive Placement Exams) are designed to measure a student's current skill level in French, German, and/or Spanish for placement consideration. The tests are multiple choice and evaluate grammar, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. There are no listening or speaking components to the test.
The WebCAPE tests are offered in the Testing Center Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment is required to take the WebCAPE.
Preparation for Test
This is a ONE-TIME-ONLY test. Students should study BEFORE taking the test. While there are no official study guides available, students are encouraged to review textbooks from previous studies.
There is no charge for the WebCAPE tests.
A current driver’s license, passport, or UAFS ID card is required.
There is no time limit. Most students finish within 10 to 30 minutes and receive scores immediately upon completion of the test.
The WebCAPE test is used for placement purposes only. Students do not earn credits merely by taking a WebCAPE test. Students who wish to earn credits without taking a foreign language class should consider taking the CLEP exam instead.
