At the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, we offer the ACCUPLACER test, which is an assessment of student's current skill level in math, reading, and writing. This multiple-choice, computerized test is not timed, but is usually completed in two to three hours.
Why do students need to take the ACCUPLACER test?
In accordance with Arkansas State Law, all students are required to furnish scores from either ACT, SAT, ACCUPLACER, or Compass or provide proof of completion of a college-level course with a grade of "C" or better in math and English. If a student scores below a 19 ACT in any of the ACT subsets, ACCUPLACER scores are needed to place that student in the appropriate level of math, reading, and writing.
Should students study for the ACCUPLACER ?
Studying for the ACCUPLACER placement test may help improve placement results. More information about ACCUPLACER preparation can be found at on the UAFS Academic Success Center website.
