Arkansas Workforce Improvement Grant
DEADLINE: JUNE 1
The Arkansas Workforce Improvement Grant (AWIG) is a need based grant for non-traditional students, those at least 24 years old. The program's goal is to help those students returning to school who have financial need but might not be eligible for assistance from traditional state and federal programs.
To be eligible for AWIG a student must meet the basic eligibility criteria for state aid as well as:
- Be at least 24 years old
- Be eligible for the Federal Pell Grant (Pell), as determined by the FAFSA
How much is the Arkansas Workforce Improvement Grant?
The maximum annual amount for AWIG is $2,000 minus any Pell funds the student may be receiving. This means that a student may not receive the same amount from year to year.
How many hours are required for the Arkansas Workforce Improvement Grant?
There are no specific number of credit hours per semester required for AWIG.
Is the Arkansas Workforce Improvement Grant renewable?
AWIG is not automatically renewable. The student must complete a FAFSA each year and funds will be awarded on a first-come-first-served basis to the students with the highest need first. This means there is no guarantee that a student will receive AWIG each year.
