2019-2020 Freshman Merit Scholarships

Priority Application Deadline: November 15, 2018

There is NO separate scholarship application for these awards.

Students are encouraged to apply early for admission to UAFS for priority consideration for Freshman Merit Scholarships.   Scholarships are awarded as long as funding remains available.  Eligible students will be those high school seniors graduating in the spring of 2019 and begin seeking a bachelor degree through UAFS in the Fall of that same year.  All scholarships are for 4 years or completion of undergraduate degree.

 

Merit Scholarships do not apply to UA Fayetteville Engineering Classes

 

Our primary form of communication throughout the scholarship process will be through email to your UAFS email account.  Continue to monitor your email for important information from our Scholarship Office.

Academic Distinction

Amounts

  • ACT Score: 25
  • High School GPA: 3.5

 

  • Maintain 3.0 cumulative UAFS GPA
  • Maintain full time status (30 credit hours per year recommended)
  • Up to $18,000 over four years, or until degree completion
  • $4,000 for tuition and fees each year
  • $1,000 for Lion’s Den Housing each year for two years

Recipients are not required to live on campus; however, the housing portion may only be applied to on-campus housing.  The housing portion of the scholarship must be used consecutively in order to receive it each year.

 

NOTE: Current students will be responsible for the scholarship renewal criteria listed on their contract.  Changing majors could result in loss of award.

 

Academic Excellence

  • ACT Score: 21
  • High School GPA: 3.2

 

  • Maintain 3.0 cumulative UAFS GPA
  • Maintain full time status (30 credit hours per year recommended)
  • Up to $14,000 over four years, or until degree completion
  • $3,000 for tuition and fees each year
  • $1,000 for Lion’s Den Housing each year for two years

Recipients are not required to live on campus; however, the housing portion may only be applied to on-campus housing.  The housing portion of the scholarship must be used consecutively in order to receive it each year.+

Sebastian County Academic Opportunity

  • ACT Score: 19
  • High School GPA: 2.7
  • Be a Sebastian County Resident
  • Demonstrate Financial Need, Based on FAFSA*
  • Maintain 2.5 cumulative UAFS GPA
  • Maintain full time status (30 credit hours per year recommended)
  • Up to $12,000 over four years, or until degree completion
  • $2,000 for tuition and fees each year
  • $1,000 for Lion’s Den Housing each year for two years
  • $500 for books & supplies each year

*For priority consideration, the FAFSA should be received by November 15, 2018; therefore, the FAFSA should be completed by November 10, 2018

Your housing application is available online.

NOTE: Freshman Merit Scholarship recipients are not required to live on campus; however, the housing portion may only be applied to on-campus housing.  Students who do not wish to use the Housing portion of their scholarship in the first year, forfeit the entire housing portion.  Where in after, the housing portion of the scholarship must be used consecutively in order to receive it each year.
