Western Arkansas Planning & Development District (WAPDD)

A role of WAPDD is to meet the mandates of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act (WIOA) to assist eligible individuals in seeking gainful employment through training and other supportive services. WAPDD serves the six western Arkansas counties of Crawford, Franklin, Logan, Polk, Scott and Sebastian. There are 10 workforce regions in Arkansas of which the Western Arkansas Workforce Development area is the one represented by WAPDD. Dennis Williamson II is the Director of Workforce Development and administers the formula funds as well as other workforce related grants that may be available. The formula funds are directed to assist eligible clients with barriers to employment who are adults, dislocated workers and youth throughout the region.


What does WAPDD do?

WAPDD workforce services help increase employability of area residents with services including assessment, testing, job search and placement, training assistance, labor market information, basic employment skills and career advisory services. Additionally, career advisors can provide resume writing aid, assistance with financial aid applications, referrals to adult literacy, health, finance, and other assistance that clients may need.
